2018 Sama Randy Youth Write Contest- UPDATE!!!

Hello Again Better Breed(ers)

If you have been following- as you should have- You know we launched the 2018 Smaa Randy Youth Write Contest late last year

If you are really up to date, you’ve read that Makonjo Media opted to join us in this initiative and has offered to cover the cash prize for the 3rd place winner of this year’s contest as well as offer a freelance writing job to the 1st place winner!

But the good news doesn’t end there! Kin of Sama Randy (who this contest is made in memorial of) has offered to increase the 1st place cash award ton an enticing 100.000frs sum!!!! 

With all these upgrades, we decided to ensure our potential winners have enough time to put their best foot forward. We’re thus announcing that the deadline for submissions to the Sama Randy  Youth Write  Contest has been extended to Sunday, 11th  February 2018!

Isn’t it great? Now you have all ample time to make a good attempt at writing a winning essay! 

And just in case you’ve been in the dark all this while, here’s all you need to  know about this year’s contest in an easily comprehensible format:

1- Better Breed Cameroon, a youth-led, youth-focused philanthropic initiative annually hosts the Sama Randy Youth Write Contest which is open to undergraduate students of Cameroonian nationality registered in ANY higher institution in Cameroon (registered for an HND? You’re eligible, registered at GTTTC? You’re welcome! Fromm Diplomas, to ACCA students to those pursuant of academic degrees). This contest aims at challenging young people to ponder on and constructively contribute to the discourse on socio-economic and political issues concerning the country.

2-  This year’s edition is neither limited to a question nor specific theme. Essays of any style and various themes are welcome given that they fall within the limit of 1000 to 1500 words, suitably focus on a perceived need of the country and end with the statement “This is what Cameroon needs now”.

3-  All essays are to be written in English and submitted as documents attached via email to Better Breed Cameroon’s email address: betterbreed@gmail.com. The subject of the email should read: ‘Sama Randy Youth Write Contest Submission 2018’ and the email body ought to provide the candidates’ names, contact number, age, degree/diploma program and higher institution to which they belong.

4- With the upgrade of awards, this year’s competitors stand to win one of three prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize of 100.000 CFA and a freelance writing job, 50.000, and 25.000 francs respectively. The submissions will be graded based on intellectual originality, proper citation where necessary, the strength of arguments, spelling, grammar, and compliance with rules of submission.

5- As mentioned above, the new deadline for submission has been set for Sunday the 11th of February 2018. Winners will be contacted three weeks later and awarded soon after.
